Position: Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Trenton Plants
General Overview
The Technical Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting clients, sales initiatives, and internal teams to enhance and expand sales for both established and prospective accounts. This position requires a deep understanding of customer preferences and product offerings. The engineer will routinely address customer concerns within set parameters and collaborate with clients to identify effective solutions. Building and nurturing strong business relationships is essential for generating new opportunities and increasing sales from the existing customer base. The role involves close cooperation with various departments, including Engineering, Production, and Quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support assigned existing accounts.
  • Establish and sustain business relationships by promoting and selling Hutchinson Industries, Inc.'s products across established and emerging markets.
  • Achieve targeted sales revenue by aligning our value proposition of new and existing products with customer requirements. Foster robust customer relationships through direct interactions, phone communications, and digital correspondence, both independently and with the support of sales and technical teams.
  • Drive new revenue opportunities by actively promoting both new and existing products, effectively communicating their necessity and value to customers.
  • Assess customer business needs and prepare formal and informal proposals and recommendations.
  • Create a quarterly sales call strategy and monitor account performance.
  • Travel domestically as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Process internal and external customer transactions, including orders, inquiries, and quotes, serving as the primary contact when necessary. Collaborate closely with production to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Coordinate with production and purchasing teams to ascertain lead times for new and existing customer orders.

Additional Responsibilities
Contribute to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, engage in EHS audits and investigations, and exemplify adherence to all EHS regulations and procedures.

Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in business sales and/or engineering.
  • Ability to work independently with strong decision-making, motivational, workload management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills with management, staff, and customers, demonstrating sound judgment and reasoning abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb or balance, stoop, lift, and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision for viewing a computer terminal, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception for driving, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position is not significantly exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Personal Protective Equipment
The following PPE is required while in the manufacturing area:
  • Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher.
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910.
  • Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910.
