The USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is in search of a Student Support Coordinator with exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities to become a vital member of its team. The Student Support Coordinator provides guidance and support to undergraduate and/or graduate students, offering a variety of services related to admissions, financial assistance, academic counseling, and advisement. This position is accountable to the Student Support Coordinator III and will be integrated into the Student Services Department of the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

This role necessitates full-time on-campus engagement and occasional travel for event-related tasks (such as transporting supplies and submitting documents). A valid driver's license is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing, updating, and preserving application data and student records.
  • Advising prospective students and their families on admissions, financial aid, housing, and academic criteria.
  • Conducting preliminary assessments of admissions and financial aid applications, and identifying and recommending scholarship candidates based on eligibility.
  • Organizing and coordinating student events, including commencement and orientation receptions.
  • Providing essential information to admitted applicants regarding registration and other preparatory details for new students.
  • Offering administrative assistance to faculty and academic committees, including processing and tracking documentation.
  • Delivering statistical insights related to applicants, students, and alumni to university stakeholders, including GERO administrators.
  • Maintaining communication with applicants, providing updates and deadlines, and acting as the admission closer to determine enrollment status.
  • Possibly supervising student assistants.
  • Executing other related tasks as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in admissions, student services counseling, and academic advisement.
  • Experience working with Ph.D. students and programs is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant university policies, including national standards and practices.
  • Proven ability in problem identification and conflict resolution.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain strong working relationships with clients, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity, interpersonal skills, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects, adapt to shifting priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
The hourly wage for this position is $32.50.
