The Student Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall student journey from enrollment to graduation. This position collaborates closely with various departments, including Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Admissions, and Career Services, to ensure that students receive comprehensive support throughout their academic experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster relationships with prospective students, current students, alumni, and their families to create a supportive community.
  • Establish a welcoming and encouraging environment for new students during the onboarding process.
  • Facilitate discussions with students regarding their progress and results from assessments.
  • Engage with students regularly through multiple communication channels, including meetings, phone calls, and emails.
  • Conduct monthly outreach to active students through classroom visits and personal interactions.
  • Identify and address potential challenges that may hinder student success through daily meetings.
  • Develop and implement effective retention strategies for both current and former students.
  • Monitor student progress in online courses and collaborate with academic leaders for outreach initiatives.
  • Manage and update the Student Events calendar, ensuring all activities are well-coordinated.
  • Organize bi-annual focus groups to gather student feedback and encourage participation.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at workshops, both in-person and online.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for student involvement in campus activities.
  • Assist returning students with the application review process and address previous challenges to support their reintegration.
  • Connect students with faculty for additional academic support as needed.
  • Support the execution of campus events, including career fairs and graduation ceremonies.
  • Actively participate in student organizations and councils.
  • Work closely with graduating students to ensure all exit requirements are fulfilled.
  • Contribute to the development and management of an Alumni Program, planning events for alumni engagement.
  • Assist Career Services in job placement initiatives for students seeking employment while studying.
  • Network with employers to identify job opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Collaborate with educational departments to support students in certification testing and further education.
  • Assist in tracking graduate employment and program completion metrics for accreditation purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Student Affairs leadership.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in education, student development, psychology, or a related field is preferred, along with at least three years of experience in student affairs.
  • A Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Experience in an educational setting that supports student achievement.
  • Background in advising, counseling, or mentoring students pursuing higher education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with relevant software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
