Role Overview:
Under general oversight, this position is dedicated to enhancing retention and success services for LGBTQIA+ students while managing the daily operations of the LGBTQIA+ Center. The focus is on strategic initiatives that promote academic achievement, wellness, inclusivity, celebration, and graduation among LGBTQIA+ students.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitates outreach and recruitment efforts aimed at LGBTQIA+ students, collaborating with campus partners to enhance retention and completion rates.
  2. Connects LGBTQIA+ students with relevant campus and community resources to address their needs regarding retention, success, and well-being.
  3. Monitors LGBTQIA+ student engagement with academic support services, ensuring equitable access to resources.
  4. Collaborates with retention specialists to align LGBTQIA+ student success initiatives with broader institutional goals.
  5. Works with faculty and staff to identify barriers to LGBTQIA+ student persistence and develops culturally responsive strategies to mitigate these challenges.
  6. Coordinates the daily operations of the LGBTQIA+ Center, including managing schedules and event logistics.
  7. Designs and implements educational workshops and training sessions focused on LGBTQIA+ inclusion and best practices for supporting LGBTQIA+ students.
  8. Utilizes data to assess and enhance LGBTQIA+ student retention and success programs.
  9. Provides crisis intervention and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ students, including specialized support for those affected by domestic violence.
  10. Builds partnerships with community organizations to enhance support services for LGBTQIA+ students.
  11. Prepares reports to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and services offered by the LGBTQIA+ Center.
  12. Manages the center's budget and assists in the hiring and supervision of staff and student workers.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  2. Two years of experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community or in diversity affairs.
  3. Two years of experience in academic advising, retention, education, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  2. Four years of experience in student services or related areas.
  3. Experience in supervising and training staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of LGBTQIA+ student experiences in higher education, knowledge of retention strategies, and the ability to create inclusive programs. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations are essential.
