Senior Systems Engineering Specialist

The Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for conducting requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems-level design, systems integration, verification and validation, as well as cost and risk management. This role encompasses the evaluation of supportability and effectiveness analyses for comprehensive systems. The engineer will also carry out functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies to convert customer needs into precise systems specifications. Analyses will be conducted at all stages of the total system product lifecycle, including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate system-level electro-mechanical and weapon systems integration planning, execution, and reporting.
- Lead new product introduction (NPI) activities associated with systems integration and testing, including hands-on evaluation of prototypes.
- Provide training and support to assembly and engineering technicians on integration and troubleshooting methods.
- Generate technical integration documentation, including plans, procedures, specifications, and integration information sheets.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues encountered during installation or testing phases.
- Document and monitor test failures from identification to resolution.
- Leverage data analysis to assist in identifying and resolving issues, as well as verifying system-level requirements.
- Engage with internal and external clients to develop technical solutions for complex requirements.
- Identify gaps in production and testing procedures based on customer feedback and implement corrective measures.
- Offer systems engineering and integration support to evaluate, plan, coordinate, and execute production improvement initiatives.
- Enhance testing procedures to ensure proper control and documentation of test configurations, focusing on high-risk areas and collaborating with the team to develop risk mitigation plans.
- Create test roadmaps and plans that align development timelines with technical risk management and program priorities.
- Deliver technical presentations to stakeholders, including customers and management teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in electrical, mechanical, systems, or software).
- 9 years of relevant experience in complex electro-mechanical systems engineering, or 7 years with a Master's degree.
- Proficient in office software including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with continuous process improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze and interpret business system data.
- Strong communication skills with management and cross-functional teams.
- Effective team collaboration skills.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, ideally in mechanical, electrical, systems, or software.
- Lean/Six-Sigma green belt certification or higher.
- Experience with Department of Defense and government contracts.
- Extensive experience in one or more engineering disciplines such as software, mechanical, electrical, optics, or fluidics, with a solid understanding of advanced theories and processes.
- Ability to provide technical leadership during investigations of complex electro-mechanical systems.
