Position Summary:
This role primarily engages with the ROEM 155mm Howitzer program, while also providing assistance in various other projects as necessary. We seek a skilled engineer with a background in prototype and low-volume manufacturing environments, capable of developing processes and procedures as projects evolve. This new facility offers ample opportunities for professional growth and procedural development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and refine manufacturing processes, including run-times and bill-of-materials, and initiate modifications to machinery or equipment to enhance production efficiency.
  2. Design and develop manufacturing jigs, tools, fixtures, and methods that align with engineering specifications to facilitate efficient production.
  3. Coordinate priorities for tools, jigs, and fixtures to optimize the manufacturing of devices and components.
  4. Establish assembly processes and sequences, ensuring the adequacy of manufacturing documentation.
  5. Provide training to operators and technicians on the processes and procedures established by engineering.
  6. Prepare detailed project requests outlining engineering work costs, parts lists, bills of material, and timelines, while monitoring project budgets.
  7. Support production processes by resolving design and manufacturing challenges and aiding the transition from development to production.
  8. Evaluate product designs and engineering prototypes, recommending changes to enhance manufacturability.
  9. Guide methods to maximize the overall efficiency of assembly operations.
  10. Maintain communication with vendors and interfacing departments to efficiently resolve producibility issues.
  11. Utilize ERP systems to develop process flows and routing steps.
  12. Create layouts for work cells, including tooling and work areas.
  13. Assist in mentoring entry-level manufacturing engineers.
  14. Collaborate with engineering technicians to troubleshoot and finalize prototypes.
  15. Develop and/or refine testing procedures.
  16. Create project schedules and lead integrated project teams on smaller initiatives.
  17. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Important Note: This position requires U.S. citizenship due to government contract stipulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical, or systems) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in fixture and jig design within an assembly context.
  • Familiarity with office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Knowledge of continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical, or management-focused (e.g., MBA, engineering management).
  • Lean/Six-Sigma green belt certification or higher.
  • Training in RCCA procedures.
  • Experience in electrical assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with DoD and government contract work.
