Position Summary:
The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for conducting comprehensive requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems design, integration, verification, and validation, as well as cost and risk management. This role involves translating customer needs into detailed systems specifications through functional analysis, timeline assessments, and trade studies. The engineer will engage in all phases of the system lifecycle, including concept development, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate system-level integration of electro-mechanical and weapon systems, ensuring effective planning and execution.
  2. Lead new product introduction (NPI) activities related to systems integration and testing, including hands-on prototype evaluations.
  3. Train assembly and engineering technicians on integration and troubleshooting methodologies.
  4. Develop and maintain technical documentation such as integration plans, procedures, and specifications.
  5. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues encountered during installation or testing phases.
  6. Document and monitor test failures from identification through to resolution.
  7. Leverage data analysis to support issue identification and resolution, as well as system-level requirements verification.
  8. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to devise technical solutions for complex requirements.
  9. Identify and address gaps in production and testing procedures based on customer feedback.
  10. Provide systems engineering support for production improvement initiatives.
  11. Enhance test procedures to ensure proper control and documentation of test configurations, focusing on risk mitigation.
  12. Create test roadmaps that align development timelines with technical risk management and program priorities.
  13. Deliver technical presentations to stakeholders, including management and development teams.
  14. Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Collaboration:
This role requires interaction and coordination with stakeholders within the customer test community.

Citizenship Requirement:
This position necessitates U.S. citizenship due to government contract stipulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in electrical, mechanical, systems, or software).
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in complex electro-mechanical systems engineering (or 7 years with a Master's degree).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business system data.
  • Strong communication skills with management and cross-functional teams.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical, electrical, systems, or software.
  • Lean/Six-Sigma certification (green belt or higher).
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) and government contracts.
  • Extensive development experience in software, mechanical, electrical, optics, or fluidics, with a strong grasp of advanced engineering theories and principles.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership in complex electro-mechanical systems investigations.
