Position Summary
We are in search of a Strategic Communications Specialist with a focus on media relations and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in writing, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail, which are critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement strategic communication strategies to highlight new and existing offerings.
- Conduct media outreach initiatives, including satellite and/or radio media tours and public service announcement distribution.
- Lead outreach efforts to potential partners and stakeholders, including the creation of relevant materials and conducting outreach via phone and email.
- Oversee the procurement of materials for conferences and events.
- Assess and enhance the effectiveness of communication strategies by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators.
- Support nationwide external communications campaigns focused on Veterans.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic communications and public relations activities, particularly in outreach or educational campaigns.
- Proficiency in developing and producing communication tools, including communication plans, press releases, scripts, and talking points.
- Exceptional writing, conceptual, and editing abilities.
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills.
- Excellent oral communication and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring error-free deliverables.
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working independently or within a team.
- Adaptable and flexible, able to manage tight deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with a federal government contractor, consulting firm, public relations or marketing agency, or national association.
- Experience supporting strategic communications initiatives at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or its administrations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
