Job Description

As a Strategic Communications Specialist at CFP Board, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a range of communications that promote the organization's mission and strategic priorities. This includes creating content for various stakeholders, such as CFP professionals, candidates for certification, education providers, corporate partners, and donors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop written communications for various stakeholders, including content for newsletters, brochures, forms, email communication, and CFP Board's online resources.
  • Work with all departments to identify, analyze, and develop written communications that meet the needs of CFP Board's primary stakeholder groups.
  • Employ strategic, thoughtful, and purposeful communication to build a strong and reputable outlook on the organization, maximize CFP professional and stakeholder engagement, and ensure CFP professionals' satisfaction and a positive public image and perception with CFP Board.
  • Support the Senior Communications Manager & Editor in providing writing services for departments across the organization.
  • Write and edit content for CFP Board's websites and social media.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, English, public relations, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of strategic communications experience.
  • Superb writing skills, excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and good judgment and instincts.
  • Experience developing presentations and graphic design skills.
  • Adeptness at working with and meeting needs across the organization, with a willingness to provide counsel, listen, and take direction.
  • Strong team player with the ability to operate with a sense of urgency and rapid response capabilities.
  • An independent and strategic thinker, able to take initiative and follow through on projects.
  • Experience analyzing, distilling, and communicating data.

About CFP Board

CFP Board is the professional body for personal financial planners in the U.S. CFP Board consists of two affiliated organizations focused on advancing the financial planning profession for the public's benefit. CFP Board of Standards (501(c)(6)) sets and upholds standards for financial planning and administers the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification, widely recognized by the public, advisors, and firms as the standard for financial planners.

CFP certification is held by more than 100,000 people in the U.S. CFP Board Center for Financial Planning (501(c)(3)) addresses diversity and workforce development challenges and conducts and publishes research that adds to the financial planning profession's body of knowledge.

This position works on programs which are part of both the 501 (c)(6) and the 501 (c)(3).

This position is based in the Washington D.C. office and works a hybrid schedule which could be changed at any time.
