Position Overview

As a Correctional Sergeant, your responsibilities include ensuring the safety and welfare of inmates at a State Correctional Facility, supervising inmate activities, enforcing institutional regulations, responding to emergencies, and performing security inspections.

Compensation Details

This role is classified under pay schedule and range 05-32, with a starting base pay rate of $34.59 per hour. The position includes outstanding benefits, such as protective retirement status, with scheduled pay increases and additional compensation for specific shifts. A 12-month probationary period is required, with varying compensation for current and former State employees.

Additional hourly bonuses may be available for personnel at different security facilities.

Required Qualifications

Essential skills include familiarity with security protocols, crowd management, directing staff and inmates, facility operations, first aid, counseling methods, and strong communication abilities.
