Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this role is to formulate and implement medical communications strategies within HSO's Global Medical Affairs. The Manager/Sr. Manager, Medical Communications will oversee the creation and management of clinical study reports, protocols, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, investigator brochures, and product manuals. These documents will encompass topics related to clinical trials, medical devices, and advancements in medical research and education.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Contributing to the establishment and execution of the medical affairs communication strategy.
  • Managing medical writing projects, including the design and preparation of manuscripts for scientific publications and conference presentations.
  • Leading the development of clinical documentation and regulatory submissions.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of reports and ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Interpreting data while adhering to regulatory and scientific documentation standards.
  • Assisting in the organization of symposiums, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Producing high-quality manuscripts, abstracts, and regulatory documents on cataract-related topics.
  • Staying informed on the latest advancements and trends in cataract surgery and related fields.
  • Performing comprehensive quality control checks on all submissions.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best publication practices.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to verify data and align objectives.
  • Working with Corporate Communications to develop content calendars for various platforms.
  • Conducting interviews with experts in the field to gather insights on medical advancements.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years in medical writing and medical affairs communication.
  • 3-5 years in a clinical or regulatory scientific role within the industry or academia.
  • Proven experience in writing clinical study reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and resources relevant to the field.
  • Background in cataract surgery devices and ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and collaborative work across functions.

Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Understanding of global clinical and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced skills in medical and scientific writing with critical assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to simplify complex clinical and technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Strong grasp of clinical data analysis and study design concepts.
  • Project management proficiency.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, agile work environment.

Academic Background:

  • Advanced degree in Medicine or related sciences (preferably at the Masters/OD/PhD/MD level).
  • Background in Ophthalmology is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% to 20% travel may be necessary.
