Function: Global Medical Affairs

Role Summary

The primary objective of this role is to formulate and implement medical communications strategies within HSO's Global Medical Affairs. The Medical Communications Manager/Senior Manager will oversee the creation and/or editing of clinical study reports, protocols, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, investigator brochures, and product manuals. These documents will encompass topics related to clinical trials, medical devices, medical research advancements, clinical data, and medical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the establishment and execution of the medical affairs communication strategy.
  • Manage medical writing initiatives, including the design and preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • Lead the development of clinical documentation and regulatory submissions.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of reports and systematically verify information.
  • Interpret clinical data and apply regulatory and scientific knowledge to documentation.
  • Assist in organizing symposiums, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Create and edit high-quality manuscripts, abstracts, and regulatory documents related to cataracts and IOLs.
  • Stay informed on current trends and advancements in cataract surgery and related devices.
  • Perform comprehensive quality control checks on submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best publication practices.
  • Maintain adherence to organizational writing standards and document management protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to verify data accuracy.
  • Work with Corporate Communications to develop content calendars for various platforms.
  • Conduct interviews with experts and thought leaders in the field.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years in medical writing and communications within medical affairs.
  • 3-5 years in clinical or regulatory roles in industry or academia.
  • Proficient in writing clinical study reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and resources.
  • Experience in cataract surgery devices and ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and cross-functional collaboration.

Skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Understanding of global clinical and regulatory frameworks.
  • Advanced medical writing skills with a critical approach to information.
  • Ability to simplify complex clinical data for diverse audiences.
  • Strong grasp of clinical data analysis and study design concepts.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Proven adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.

Educational Background

  • Advanced degree in Medicine or related sciences (preferably at the Masters/PhD/MD level).
  • Background in Ophthalmology is advantageous.

Travel Requirements

  • 10% to 20% travel may be required.
