Job Overview

Position: Food Runner

Department: Food and Beverage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an exceptional dining experience to all patrons.
  • Exemplify and uphold the brand values throughout the guest experience.
  • Warmly greet and engage with guests in a friendly manner.
  • Assist guests with seating arrangements upon arrival.
  • Serve and explain all menu items with comprehensive knowledge of offerings and preparation techniques.
  • Ensure a gracious farewell to guests, inviting them to return.
  • Complete assigned side tasks according to established procedures.
  • Take food orders with a thorough understanding of menu items and preparation methods.
  • Input food orders into the Point of Sale System accurately.
  • Efficiently deliver food to tables while maintaining a high standard of guest service.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide bottled water service as needed.
  • Present the menu to guests effectively.
  • Set the table with appropriate utensils.
  • Coordinate the timing of food courses.
  • Clear dishes promptly after each course.
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction throughout their meal.
  • Take dessert orders with a full understanding of offerings.
  • Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
  • Assist in the departure of guests with a sincere farewell.
  • Support the dining team in executing service protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Utilize materials and time efficiently and responsibly.
  • Stay informed about relevant ABC laws.
  • Participate in all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure necessary supplies are available to provide excellent service.


Due to the dynamic nature of the hotel operations, employees may be required to perform various functions, and it is expected that all team members assist one another as needed.



Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years as a Busboy or Food Runner, preferably in a Four Star or Five Star dining environment.

Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Successful completion of the menu test.
  • Successful completion of the practical service test.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively to meet objectives and standards.
  • Proficient in the correct pronunciation of food and beverage items.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Point of Sale systems.
  • Completion of the Talent Plus rating process.
  • Passing scores on verbal and written menu tests.
  • Successful completion of practical service assessments.

Supervision:

  • Reports to Assistant Manager or Sous Chef.

Other Qualifications:

  • Energetic demeanor with a strong display of enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Ongoing training and certification will be required.
