Position:
Coffee Specialist

Department:
Retail (Gourmet Shop)

Key Responsibilities:
(guest interaction, order management, cleanliness duties, clerical tasks, etc.)

  • Perform duties in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures for the Coffee Specialist role.
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, warm, and inviting manner.
  • Master the art of upselling all products available at the Coffee Bar.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all coffee counter procedures and recipes.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge in the Gourmet Shop and engage with guests effectively.
  • Restock coffee bar supplies, food items, beverages, and stockroom inventory.
  • Process orders and retrieve items from the food storeroom, pastry shop, beverage control, and main kitchen on a daily basis.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, pastry display, and floor in the Coffee Bar.
  • Operate and understand the Point of Sale System proficiently.
  • Read and comprehend shop procedures accurately.
  • Understand the protocols for opening and closing the coffee bar.
  • Exhibit a welcoming smile and a desire to provide excellent service to guests at all times.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, even under stress.
  • Collaborate effectively with co-workers in a confined space.
  • Deliver outstanding service to guests, members, and internal customers.

Typical Working Hours:
(Shift, days)

  • Shop operates from 7am to 9pm.
  • Shifts for the Coffee Specialist may vary based on business volume.
Shifts may include 6am to 2pm, 8am to 4pm, or 2pm to 9:15.

Experience Requirements:
(Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)

  • Two years of experience in guest service.
  • Prior experience as a Coffee Specialist is preferred.

Educational Qualifications:
(Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)

  • High School Diploma.

Communication Skills:
(Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)

  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Fluent in reading and writing English.
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
  • Well-spoken with the ability to maintain eye contact during professional conversations.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in using and understanding the Point of Sale System.
  • Must obtain a Food Handler's Permit.
  • Ability to operate all equipment (Espresso Machine, Smoothie Blender, grinders, and Coffee machines) used at the Coffee Bar.
