Position Summary
PharmaEssentia is seeking a seasoned professional to spearhead the Patient Advocacy division within the Medical department. The Director of Patient Advocacy will play a pivotal role in cultivating and nurturing meaningful partnerships with patient advocacy organizations pertinent to PharmaEssentia's therapeutic focus. This role is crucial for ensuring that the perspectives and needs of patients are integrated into the company's strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advocate for the patient perspective within the organization, engaging with community leaders and advocacy groups to enhance awareness and programming.
  • Develop a strategic framework and action plan that outlines PharmaEssentia's engagement with community organizations, patients, caregivers, and families.
  • Ensure that patient considerations are central to all initiatives, integrating insights into the company's strategic planning and operations:
    • Stay informed about advancements in patient advocacy to address their needs effectively.
    • Lead significant engagement programs, including disease awareness campaigns, advisory boards, and patient speaker events.
    • Oversee the review process for grant and sponsorship requests.
    • Act as a liaison for generating insights and sharing information related to research and development activities.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop patient insights that support the expansion into new therapeutic areas.

Candidate Profile
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, ideally within a commercial-stage pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient advocacy and a patient-first approach.
  • Experience collaborating with patient advocacy organizations is essential.
  • Prior involvement with hematology or oncology organizations is advantageous.
  • Experience in complex, cross-functional team settings with diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the drug development process from discovery through to launch.
  • Ability to convey complex medical and scientific concepts in accessible language for patient communication.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with patient advocacy regulations and guidelines across major regions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for advocacy meetings and conferences.
