About the Role:
Kent is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cost Specialist to contribute to our projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in cost management, particularly within the construction sector. This role is vital for ensuring the financial success of projects, involving diligent monitoring of expenses, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, along with collaboration with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management: Oversee, analyze, and report on project expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage project budgets, collaborating closely with project managers and finance teams to create accurate forecasts and financial models.
  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive financial reports, including cost variance analysis and cash flow reports, and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Change Management: Monitor and report on project changes, ensuring all financial implications are documented and addressed.
  • Contract Management: Collaborate with procurement and contracts teams to manage vendor and subcontractor agreements, ensuring adherence to financial terms.
  • Invoice Development: Supervise the preparation and management of invoices related to project costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and evaluate financial risks associated with projects, proposing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with on-site project teams, procurement, contracts, and finance departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of cost-related activities.
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in cost control and project management, leading initiatives to enhance efficiency in cost management processes.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined, the employee may be required to undertake other tasks as directed by management, within the scope of their skills and capabilities. This flexibility ensures that the organization can meet its dynamic needs effectively.
Your Qualifications:
  • Experience: At least 10 years in cost management within the construction industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a site-based role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in cost management software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and ERP systems. Familiarity with construction management software is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of managing complex financial data and providing actionable insights.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the capacity to mentor junior staff and lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in financial reporting and cost tracking.
