Role Overview

The Environmental Air Compliance Specialist will be an integral part of the Environmental Department within the SSH&E Division. This role supports various facilities by analyzing air, waste, and water regulations, determining applicability, maintaining compliance systems, and providing air permit guidance. The Specialist will also assess physical and operational changes concerning air permit requirements. This position emphasizes the importance of Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) excellence by promoting values, demonstrating behaviors, and reinforcing standards aligned with site safety and environmental systems. Staying informed about regulatory changes and assisting in advocacy efforts for reasonable rulemaking and interpretations is crucial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer compliance assistance to manufacturing sites, including air regulation analysis, applicability assessments, and air permit guidance.
  • Evaluate physical and operational modifications using systematic methods to ensure adherence to air, waste, and water regulations.
  • Understand the implications of Title V permitting and compliance on supported sites.
  • Analyze, manage, and interpret data, providing recommendations and preparing reports as necessary.
  • Complete air permitting applications and maintain knowledge of state permitting regulations.
  • Develop Compliance Plans to align with new or revised regulations and permits.
  • Enhance systems to promote compliance and operational efficiencies.
  • Support advocacy staff on regulatory matters to facilitate reasonable rulemaking and interpretations.
  • Act as a liaison with state and federal agencies during inspections and information requests.
  • Conduct field walks, informal audits, and verifications to assess performance of assigned units.
  • Deliver basic environmental training modules for air regulatory compliance.
  • Engage in internal and external regulatory assessments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in air compliance and permitting is essential.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to manage priorities, and achieve results.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
