We are dedicated to advancing our electrical engineering capabilities, focusing on firmware engineering, power electronics, embedded systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer within our Lighting and Lifestyles brand team, you will manage multiple projects concurrently, focusing on the development of new products and the enhancement of existing ones.

Your projects will primarily involve System Enhancement products that integrate embedded systems into tools such as laser levels and audio devices, aimed at improving jobsite efficiency.

Each project will require a creative approach to form and function, emphasizing the interaction between users and our products.

You will collaborate with internal teams and engage with various external suppliers, designers, and vendors, both domestically and internationally. Your success in this role will depend on your organizational skills, timeline management, effective communication, and meticulous attention to technical details.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define features, functions, and requirements for conceptual electronic systems.
• Develop initial prototypes and concept models of electronic systems, considering practicality and manufacturability.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies relevant to our industry and implement them as appropriate. Engage in continuous self-education regarding new technologies.
• Analyze experimental data and draw clear, logical conclusions.
• Present findings to diverse audiences across teams.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Milwaukee's development and manufacturing processes.
• Build and nurture trusting relationships with engineers globally.
• Provide hands-on support throughout the product development process, from concept to production.
• Utilize laboratory equipment commonly found in electronics development environments.
• Lead the design of electronic systems and serve as the primary technical expert.

As projects transition from concept to development, you will be expected to offer guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.

• Design, construct, and evaluate prototype electronic systems.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to refine features, functions, and requirements of concept designs until they are ready for final development.

• Troubleshoot issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis, and propose viable solutions during project development.
• Quickly identify trade-offs and solutions to challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant design role.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
• Knowledge of power electronics, motors, and motor control systems.
• Extensive experience with analog circuitry and embedded systems.
• Basic understanding of firmware development and programming best practices.
• Familiarity with USB power systems and battery charging systems is advantageous.
• Understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques is beneficial.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop new designs within specified timelines.

Experience in developing commercial products and guiding them from concept to production is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international travel may be required).

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with portable electronics, power tools, motor controls, power electronics, consumer electronics, or instrumentation systems.
• Leadership and mentoring experience.
