Position Overview:

The Peer Recovery Engagement Coordinator utilizes their personal journey to inspire hope and positivity among individuals in recovery. This role requires a deep commitment to recovery principles, supported employment practices, and a genuine concern for the well-being of individuals at the CORE Center. Candidates should have completed the necessary training for the Credential Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) or Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) and possess the skills to mentor, support, and provide unconditional positive regard to peers, alongside operational assistance for the CORE Center. The Coordinator will also facilitate training sessions and develop peer-led recovery initiatives and social activities, which may require evening and weekend availability.

Direct Supervisor: Director, CORE Center

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct peer training to help individuals achieve their personal goals in areas such as employment, education, and personal growth.
  • Encourage supportive peer relationships among members of the CORE Center.
  • Assist project staff in organizing and facilitating recovery-oriented and social activities.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to promote participation in recovery-focused self-help and social groups.
  • Actively participate in the Advisory Committee, contributing to recovery and social activities, welcoming visitors, and representing the CORE Center at various events.
  • Coordinate the CORE Center's monthly calendar based on participant feedback and needs.
  • Support office operations, including answering phones, scheduling, and preparing materials for meetings and activities.
  • Ensure adherence to program guidelines during all recovery and social activities, maintaining cleanliness and organization of materials and facilities.
  • Assist with data collection, timely completion of paperwork, and compliance with confidentiality protocols.
  • Attend individual supervision and staff meetings as required.
  • Participate in all mandatory training sessions as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Personal experience with the criminal justice system.
  • Completion of CASAC-T or CRPA training, with certification expected within six months of hire.
  • Preferred educational background includes an Associate's or Bachelor's degree; a High School diploma or equivalency is required within six months of hire.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the peer recovery movement, recovery processes, and community resources in Rochester, NY, along with a commitment to recovery, choice, and empowerment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn office protocols.

  • 12 paid holidays annually.
