Key Responsibilities

The Optometry Operations Manager will ensure the practice maintains outstanding customer service, oversees the recruitment and training of personnel, manages financial budgets, and organizes patient records. This position collaborates closely with the corporate team and the clinical staff to uphold our organizational values and culture.

  • Exhibit a hands-on management style, effectively balancing administrative tasks while empowering staff through training on essential processes.
  • Monitor and drive revenue growth and performance metrics for the practice.
  • Adapt to new technologies and manage change initiatives, assisting in the implementation of updated policies while addressing staff concerns.
  • Oversee end-of-day cash handling, including closing procedures and financial reporting.
  • Ensure practice expenditures align with the budget, verifying that all purchases are accurately invoiced and discounts applied.
  • Manage employee schedules and oversee time and attendance for payroll purposes.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise team members, conducting regular meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Enforce compliance with employee conduct standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain an inventory of optical products and establish vendor relationships to tailor inventory to the practice's demographic needs.
  • Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses based on their prescriptions, and manage the dispensing of eyewear.
  • Handle insurance verifications, authorizations, and claims processing.
  • Coordinate with IT for office equipment maintenance and issues.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including managing patient prescriptions and insurance records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in managing an optometry practice is essential.
  • Experience in a private practice setting is preferred.
  • Licensure as an Optician is advantageous.
  • Ability to identify, recruit, train, and retain high-quality talent to support organizational growth.
  • Proactive leadership approach with a willingness to engage directly with staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Integrity and honesty in leadership practices.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The working conditions are typical of a practice environment. This role requires on-site presence, with no remote work options available. Regular activities include using hands for handling, reaching, and communicating. The position may require standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
