Position Overview:

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Technical Security Specialist to join our esteemed Information Security division. This role is based at our Idaho Falls facility and operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off. The selected candidate will report directly to the Information Security Department Manager and will not have managerial duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical authority, offering expert advice and guidance on technical security policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Translate complex technical requirements into understandable terms for non-technical staff, providing expertise across a wide range of technical security issues.
  • Establish and maintain a robust Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) Program aimed at identifying, deterring, and neutralizing technical surveillance threats and security vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive TEMPEST Program to safeguard against unauthorized interception of compromising emanations from information processing systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Information Security Department Manager, TSCM Program Manager, TSCM Team Manager, and fellow TSS team members to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks.
  • Conduct assessments to identify issues and provide actionable recommendations, including taking a leadership role in specific Safeguards and Security (S&S) topical area evaluations.
  • Ensure that TSCM equipment meets program standards and is properly managed, inventoried, maintained, and serviced.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; OR 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Completion of the Interagency Training Center (ITC) TSCM course is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of the National TEMPEST School is required.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of TSCM and TEMPEST operations is essential.
  • A degree in Engineering or Electronics/Electrical or equivalent experience is required.
  • This role necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is $91,588. Compensation is determined based on education, relevant experience, and other qualifications.

  • This is a testing designated position; candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and periodic testing during employment.
