POSITION TITLE: Senior Systems Administrator – VMWare

PROGRAM SUMMARY:Inalab Consulting is seeking a dedicated Senior Systems Administrator to oversee the management of our data center and enterprise architecture hardware, along with the associated software. The successful candidate will be responsible for system upgrades, replacements, and Windows Server administration. This role involves evaluating, managing, documenting, and enhancing the existing virtual infrastructure, as well as designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining systems to resolve issues and streamline tasks through effective configuration and maintenance of Windows and related systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Participate in the monitoring, maintenance, and upgrading of systems to align with organizational needs while ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Provide specialized support and administration for all aspects of the virtual infrastructure, contributing to the broader architectural operations.
- Engage in all phases of planning, system design, prototyping, development, testing, documentation, and software maintenance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience (7 years in lieu of degree).
- Expertise in managing virtualized environments using VMware tools (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, Cloud Foundation, etc.) or similar platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of storage networks, including iSCSI and NFS, and their integration with VMware infrastructure.
- Experience in designing, configuring, deploying, and supporting block-level storage systems (e.g., Dell Unity, PowerStore, Compellent).
- Proficient in backup solutions such as Rubrik and Veeam, with a solid understanding of backup policies in both on-premises and AWS environments.
- Ability to perform architecture planning utilizing virtualization, distributed infrastructure, storage networks, and load balancing concepts.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet or similar technologies.
- Proficient in using Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployments.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code principles and best practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of security requirements and database operations.
- Experience deploying ESRI tools or open-source mapping tools in AWS or on-premises settings.
- Act as a Tier-1 IT emergency responder, providing both phone and on-site support.
- Manage VMware administration, overseeing the virtual infrastructure and all phases of the virtual machine lifecycle.
- Ensure timely patching and upgrades of the virtual infrastructure components.
- Maintain operational integrity of production systems, ensuring high availability and security.
- Collaborate with system administrators for the creation, deletion, and modification of virtual machines.
- Monitor system alerts and take necessary actions to resolve issues.
- Investigate and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct troubleshooting to restore systems to operational status and provide analysis of failures.
- Optimize networking and storage configurations.
- Coordinate planned outages and communicate with users regarding system downtime.
- Prioritize and manage support tickets effectively.
- Provide support for standard IT tasks, including patching and configuration.
- Maintain and update documentation, including wikis.
- Automate tasks using modern scripting languages and manage them in a version control system.
