POSITION SUMMARY:
Ursus, Inc. is seeking a Lead Radar Systems Engineer to oversee and guide the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced remote sensing radar systems for both space and airborne applications. In this role, you will coordinate internal teams and external partners to ensure successful instrument development and deployment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative atmosphere and possess the ability to manage subcontractors and vendor relationships effectively. Experience in the development and qualification of space and airborne systems is highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate the development of satellite systems from initial concept through to operational deployment, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and timelines.
- Produce systems engineering documentation and conduct analyses that support design initiatives.
- Plan and execute verification processes, including test definitions and various analytical assessments.
- Conduct radar calibration activities, encompassing power measurements, corner reflector assessments, and data analysis of known surfaces.
- Model and characterize RF subsystems, digital components, antennas, and integrated radar systems.
- Oversee subcontractor management.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to design instruments that fulfill the radar mission objectives.
- Proven experience in remote sensing technologies, specifically RADAR; this role is not a general systems engineering position.
- Familiarity with both software and hardware elements of radar system development.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, possessing strong communication skills and a willingness to seek assistance when needed.
- Aptitude for thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced startup culture.
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience in radar systems, with significant expertise in phased array technology.
- Comprehensive understanding of RF subsystems and components operating within the 1 GHz to 100 GHz spectrum.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modeling and analyzing phased array systems.
- Knowledge of digital systems, signal generation, and acquisition processes.
- Experience in radar signal processing, with a focus on system design and deployment.
- Expertise in analyzing radar data and test measurement data utilizing Python or Matlab.
