Position Overview:
An Associate Field Engineer is responsible for conducting both safety and non-safety certification assessments, quality system audits, and field evaluations in alignment with established performance standards and requirements, including comprehensive audits of healthy building practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the analysis and evaluation of examination and testing outcomes against relevant standards.
- Utilize technical expertise to assess whether noncompliance issues jeopardize the ongoing use of the UL Mark and explore alternative solutions.
- Aid in the interpretation and assessment of examination and testing results against UL standards, ensuring the precision of manufacturers' measuring instruments and reviewing production and inspection documentation.

- Regularly review manufacturers' production, inspection, and shipping protocols to confirm compliance with UL standards.
- Evaluate building systems, including air and water distribution, as well as heating and cooling systems as necessary.

Communication and Documentation:
- Facilitate corrective action options when deviations from UL standards are identified.
- Engage with manufacturers, customers, and regulatory authorities to conduct necessary inspections and investigate improper use of the UL Mark.
- Provide insights on policies and procedures related to UL services while promoting the advantages of both new and existing offerings.

Technical Skills:
- Discuss procedures, testing methodologies, results, sample selection, and variations in products, devices, processes, systems, and materials to resolve issues, implement changes, or assist in developing new requirements.
- Employ instruments such as micrometers, voltmeters, and ammeters to perform inspections, ensuring proper calibration of both manufacturers' and UL's measuring equipment.

Field Work:
- Document findings, variations, and test results using appropriate UL forms, maintaining logs for inspection scheduling, time, and expenses.
- Conduct calculations across various engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, chemical, or fire protection.
- This position involves site visits for audits and inspections, which may require overnight travel.

Continuous Improvement:
- Integrate continuous improvement methodologies into all job functions.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of a 2-year Technical Degree with two years of relevant experience; a Bachelor's Degree or focus in Environmental Science or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience in Indoor Air Quality Testing, CSST Asbestos Certification, or Field Inspection is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with client-facing abilities.
- Proficient computer skills and comfort with technology for data collection.
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed, with the ability to lift at least 40 pounds and navigate facility grounds during inspections.
