Job Description

The Healthy Families Resource and Support Specialist plays a vital role in identifying and recruiting families in need of support and resources. This position requires a strong ability to establish trusting relationships with families and provide interventions and referrals that are centered around their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Family Identification and Recruitment: Identify and recruit families in need of support and resources, obtaining informed consent and referring them to appropriate services.
  • Family-Centered Interventions: Provide interventions and referrals that are tailored to each family's specific needs, with a focus on establishing a strong, trusting relationship.
  • Caseload Management: Maintain a caseload and conduct regular home visits with families to assess their needs and provide support.
  • Parenting Support: Assist parents in improving their skills and abilities to create a nurturing environment for their children, including improving the family support system and increasing problem-solving abilities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of family interactions and interventions, utilizing computer and office equipment to gather, record, and disseminate information.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Attend center meetings, case reviews, staff meetings, and other meetings as directed, maintaining open and effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Goal Setting and Achievement: Assist families in establishing realistic short-term and long-term goals, and work with them to develop a plan for achieving these goals.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Work flexible hours to meet the needs of working families and be available for emergency situations.
  • Confidentiality and Boundaries: Maintain confidentiality of all acquired information and establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with experience working with at-risk children and families in a community setting.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
