Pharmacy Operations Manager

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the staff, operational processes, systems, and resources within the pharmacy to achieve optimal outcomes and foster high levels of employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and continuously assess pharmacy workflows to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Provide leadership for the daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective pharmacy services.
- Oversee IV admixture services, ensuring all operational and regulatory standards are met.
- Develop and revise policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Monitor workflow consistently and devise strategies for ongoing improvement.
- Ensure workplace safety is maintained at all times.
- Lead and organize departmental operations to guarantee efficient and safe workflows with adequate staffing.
- Supervise drug diversion prevention and monitoring efforts, ensuring adherence to established policies.
- Accountable for the safe operation of IV admixture services in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Fulfill all responsibilities of the designated person for sterile and non-sterile compounding as per regulatory guidelines.
- Manage pharmacy automation, including monitoring, reporting, and process enhancement.
- Design and implement departmental performance improvement initiatives focusing on safety and compliance.
- Address performance improvement and medication management incidents, documenting actions taken and implementing preventive measures.
- Oversee the departmental schedule to ensure optimal staffing for operational needs.
- Manage drug procurement, storage, inventory control, and dispensing processes.
- Update departmental and hospital policies to meet regulatory standards and best practices.
- Participate in various committees and task forces, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate training and education programs for pharmacy staff, ensuring ongoing development and evaluation.
- Evaluate and implement safe medication processes and best practices for medication management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies regarding medication management practices.
- Maintain a working knowledge of basic staff duties to provide coverage when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Completion of all required competencies and training for the role. A Doctorate Degree is preferred, or a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Experience:- Experience in hospital pharmacy settings.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy operations, including leading projects and initiatives.
- Experience in sterile IV compounding.
- Managerial or supervisory experience is essential.
Must possess a valid PA Pharmacist License.
Required Skills:- Strong analytical and collaborative skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask and work as part of a team.
