Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Technical Field Service Specialist Tier 1 role is essential for the preliminary setup, evaluation, and on-site deployment of all VirTra firearm simulation systems. This position includes providing training to clients post-installation or upon request. The Specialist will also undertake Annual Service Visits and Emergency Service Calls as necessary to assist the client. Travel requirements may reach up to 75%, covering both domestic and international locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections and inventory checks of systems to ensure completeness before shipment to the installation site.
  • Assemble and configure VirTra products and simulators.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting on all VirTra systems.
  • Install, update, and maintain VirTra products and simulators globally.
  • Facilitate training for Video scenario authoring (IVR-100).
  • Provide training for V-Marksmanship authoring.
  • Ensure that customer locations are left clean and orderly prior to departure.
  • Deliver simulator training procedures for customer training following installation.
  • Demonstrate simulators effectively to clients and clarify functionality parameters.
  • Achieve and maintain proficiency with all new, modified, and legacy systems/scenarios.
  • Secure approval/signoff upon completion of installation and training, submitting documentation to VirTra Corporate promptly.
  • Submit customer signoffs for all completed trips within 24 hours.
  • Communicate any issues encountered during installation or procedural delays to your supervisor.
  • Plan, schedule, and arrange travel in accordance with VirTra's travel policy.
  • Conduct pre-travel communications, including scheduling confirmations with clients, and document these interactions.
  • Manage personal company expenses and prepare monthly expense reports as per company policy.
  • Log daily hours worked with appropriate project/contract codes.
  • Adhere to ISO:9001 processes as outlined in VirTra's Quality Management System.
  • Maintain the security and functionality of VirTra-provided electronics and equipment.
  • Provide customer support through various communication channels.
  • Foster a professional relationship with clients during installations and after site visits.
  • Uphold customer confidentiality regarding service information.
  • Document service and installation activities by completing necessary forms, reports, logs, and records in a timely manner.
  • Upload all reports, images, and supporting documentation to the VirTra server, CRM, or ERP software promptly.
  • Offer technical and miscellaneous support to other departments within VirTra.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance departmental or company performance.
  • Manage time effectively within a project-based environment.
  • Log time worked by project code.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical installation skills, including the ability to assemble, test, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software, audio/video equipment, and structural components.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting Windows operating systems (XP, Win7 & Win10).
  • Understanding of basic construction principles and proficiency in using manual and power tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to instruct and train others on complex training systems.
  • A strong passion for and knowledge of firearms is preferred.
  • Capable of teaching firearm safety principles.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Physical Requirements:

This role is physically demanding, requiring activities such as stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and speaking. The position may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Daily visual acuity, including color perception, depth perception, and field of vision, is essential.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting electronics or hardware installation.
  • Mid-level experience in PC support or diagnostics.
  • Experience with PC networking.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS troubleshooting (XP, Windows7 & Windows10).
  • Experience with audio/video equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Standard work schedule: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday (in-office).
  • Variable work schedule: Sunday – Saturday (when traveling).
  • Must possess an active and valid State Driver's License with no major violations.
  • Minimum age requirement: 25 years or older.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required.
