Job Overview

Core Function and Responsibilities:

Objective: The Field Service and Installation Specialist will be responsible for the setup, commissioning, upkeep, and monitoring of production and automation systems within the Material Handling sector. The ability to master various tools, specifications, maintenance protocols, and training will dictate the pace of proficiency in this role. All tasks must be executed safely and efficiently, with some duties performed in controlled environments requiring specific attire (cleanroom suit, gloves, hood, etc.) and adherence to site-specific regulations.

This role demands exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, alongside the requisite technical skills and experience outlined below. The Field Service and Installation Specialist must be a proactive self-starter, capable of operating with minimal oversight from management.

Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Field Service and Installation Specialist encompass, but are not limited to: installation of Automation Material Handling Systems (AMHS); overseeing and instructing others; performing installation, repair, preventative maintenance, corrective actions, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance. All activities must be conducted in a safe, organized, and efficient manner. The ability to work at heights (10' to 14') on overhead systems is a mandatory requirement. Additionally, the Specialist will oversee the maintenance and condition of the workspace, including laydown areas, toolboxes, and parts utilized for installation and maintenance at designated sites. It is essential for the Specialist to execute tasks with excellence, communicate effectively, and maintain a high level of expertise, seeking further training or clarification on job-related technical information or policies as needed. This includes maintaining cleanliness, practicing safe work habits, and adhering to both customer and company policies and procedures.

Principal Duties:

  • Maintenance and installation of automation, robotic, and semiconductor equipment... 90% of the time.
  • Performing additional job-related tasks as assigned... 10% of the time.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 80%.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of technical installation experience (engineering/construction).
  • Vocational training or some college coursework.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Advanced Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Three to six years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with AMHS and mechanical systems requiring precise tolerances.
  • Background in servicing electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge in automation, robotics, and semiconductor industries.
  • Cleanroom experience is advantageous.

Working Environment:

  • Must successfully pass drug and background screenings.
  • Some tasks will occur in cleanroom settings, necessitating appropriate cleanroom attire (bunny suit, face mask, gloves, and booties) and compliance with customer site regulations.
  • Occasional work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Safety certification is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical effort is necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on equipment and overhead systems at heights using ladders or scaffolding.

Travel Requirements: Up to 80% domestic and international travel.

Work Hours: Compressed work week with potential for overtime (up to 20 hours/week).
