Marine Electronics Specialist Job Overview:

Under minimal oversight, HireVenture is in search of a Marine Electronics Specialist (MES) to install, maintain, and repair electronic systems aboard vessels. Key responsibilities encompass testing, calibrating, and diagnosing issues with components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), sub-assemblies, and antennas, in addition to loading, updating, and modifying software applications. MESs will leverage their knowledge of electronic principles and circuitry to troubleshoot technical challenges, utilizing intricate schematics, blueprints, and manuals for precise task execution. Upon completion of assignments, the Marine Electronics Specialist will compile comprehensive service reports.

  • Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS)
  • Satellite Communications (Satcoms)
  • High Frequency (HF) and Very High Frequency (VHF) Radios
  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
  • Gyrocompasses
  • Autopilot Systems
  • Sounding Equipment
Marine Electronics Specialist Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Marine Electronics Technician in the commercial maritime sector or equivalent experience gained in military service.
  • Associate degree or comparable education, training, and experience.
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory and practical application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement is preferred.
  • GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License is preferred.
  • Must possess physical fitness; the role involves lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and dependable transportation are required.
  • Willingness to work weekends as necessary.
