Role Purpose: The Senior Facilities Project Manager will work closely with the Director of Facilities to ensure the successful execution of projects while minimizing disruptions to the Museum's operations. Projects will vary in complexity and will require collaboration with various staff members and contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to manage components of an annual budget of $4 million and oversee capital projects up to $10 million, with individual projects typically ranging from $50,000 to $1 million.
  • Ensure seamless integration of projects within the Museum's extensive physical plant, which encompasses 1,000,000 square feet across multiple buildings, including specialized facilities.
  • Coordinate with a diverse group of up to 50 employees and contractors involved in project execution.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Museum's electrical and steam systems as they relate to construction and renovation efforts.
  • Manage various building systems, including energy and environmental controls, to support ongoing projects.
  • Occasionally engage with Museum Board Members regarding facilities-related matters.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams to ensure projects are executed with minimal impact on visitor experiences.
  • Act as the primary on-site coordinator for construction and facility-related projects, facilitating communication among contractors, consultants, and maintenance staff.
  • Assist in the development of bid documents and manage the solicitation and review of proposals.
  • Oversee the work of architects, engineers, and contractors, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Process change orders and keep the Director of Facilities informed of significant developments.
  • Support the Museum's policies and initiatives, particularly in sustainability and accessibility.
  • Respond to emergency situations that may threaten the safety of staff and visitors, ensuring adherence to the Museum's emergency protocols.
  • Be available for on-call duties to maintain continuous facility operations, including potential weekend and holiday work.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Technical expertise in environmental and utility systems, with experience in all phases of project execution.
  • Ability to create RFPs and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in financial analysis, project planning, and budget management.
  • Proven track record in managing a diverse range of construction projects.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of building management systems.
  • Experience with electrical and life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with climate control equipment.
  • Understanding of sustainability and accessibility standards.
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Director of Facilities.
