Position Overview

The Commercial Real Estate Credit Specialist will collaborate closely with the Market Investor Portfolio Management team, providing essential credit evaluation support for commercial real estate financing, including acquisition, refinancing, and development of income-generating properties. This role will also contribute to credit risk oversight and management of current portfolios, focusing on covenant adherence, annual reviews, and analyzing property and market trends relevant to commercial real estate lending.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Portfolio Managers to oversee and maintain an assigned commercial real estate loan portfolio, ensuring timely servicing, covenant tracking, and performance monitoring against established benchmarks.
  • Prepare and analyze credit approval documentation within the commercial loan system, ensuring accurate representation of loan terms, collateral, covenants, and credit exposure calculations.
  • Assist in conducting credit assessments and annual reviews, which involve evaluating real estate projects, market data, and financial statements of commercial borrowers and guarantors. This includes detailed analysis of leases, rent rolls, appraisals, construction budgets, and financial statements.
  • Ensure precise calculations and adherence to commercial real estate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Client Specialists to maintain accurate records within the loan portfolio systems.
  • Engage in internal credit discussions with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, and Credit partners.
  • Participate in special projects and other assignments as required.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership in team initiatives, adaptability to internal and client deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of detail and follow-through.

  • Proficient typing, spelling, and grammar skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with nCino application is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and perform both simple and complex calculations; skilled in researching and evaluating information to inform decision-making and problem-solving.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Real Estate, Finance, or Accounting. Candidates should have relevant coursework or experience in these fields.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
