Position Summary: The Medical Coordinator plays a crucial role in collaborating with healthcare professionals to uphold health and safety standards for children in out-of-home care. This position ensures compliance with childcare licensing regulations, oversees disease reporting, manages immunization records, and provides guidance on medication management while being knowledgeable about community health resources.

Key Responsibilities: The individual in this role will be expected to effectively manage the following tasks:

  • Facilitate coordinated medical care for children within the center.
  • Maintain precise medical records and documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with medical information upload protocols.
  • Communicate with sponsors to relay essential medical information.
  • Engage in resource development related to medical services prior to discharge.
  • Assist in planning and evaluating medical needs for designated social service programs.
  • Document any delays in medical assessments.
  • Participate in team meetings to advocate for the medical needs of children.
  • Coordinate medical resources for staff and resource family homes.
  • Ensure adherence to child abuse reporting standards.
  • Demonstrate reliability in completing tasks and meeting deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Attend necessary meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Duties: This role includes supervisory responsibilities in line with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with children and families is preferred.

Education: An Associate's degree or equivalent is required; relevant experience may be considered.

Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish is required, with the ability to read and interpret professional documents and effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic mathematical operations and the ability to interpret data.

Reasoning Skills: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions in various formats.

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications and standard office equipment.

Work Environment: The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.

Physical Demands: The role requires regular sitting, occasional standing, and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
