Position Summary:

The Medical Coordinator plays a vital role in collaborating with healthcare professionals to uphold health and safety standards in out-of-home childcare settings. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with childcare licensing, disease reporting, immunization protocols, injury prevention strategies, medication management, and knowledge of community health resources for children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate team-based medical care for children in the center.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with medical information upload requirements and ensure timely updates for safe discharges.
  • Conduct communications with sponsors to relay necessary medical information.
  • Engage in resource development related to medical and service needs prior to discharge.
  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of medical needs for designated social service programs.
  • Document any delays in medical assessments as required.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding the medical needs of children.
  • Coordinate medical resources for staff and resource family homes.
  • Adhere to child abuse reporting regulations.
  • Demonstrate reliability in completing tasks and meeting deadlines with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Participate in training and meetings as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee subordinate employees and execute supervisory responsibilities in line with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bilingual in Spanish is required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents, and effectively present information.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.

Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Skilled in using standard office equipment.
Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
