Position Overview

The United Nations Foundation is seeking a Policy Advisor to spearhead initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the buildings sector across various states and territories. This role is pivotal in translating commitments into actionable strategies as the organization intensifies its focus on this critical area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and Support: Provide expert guidance to states in formulating and executing policies and programs aimed at enhancing building decarbonization efforts. Facilitate access to federal and private resources to support these initiatives.
  • Coordinate Collaborative Efforts: Lead the establishment and management of state working groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders to identify key challenges and action items.
  • Develop Comprehensive Resources: Create policy option papers, roadmaps, and resource guides that analyze various strategies for decarbonizing buildings, ensuring recommendations are ambitious yet feasible.
  • Strategic Event Planning: Collaborate with various stakeholders to prepare content and materials for meetings, workshops, and high-impact events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Fundraising and Grant Management: Identify funding requirements to support decarbonization strategies and assist in writing grant applications. Oversee philanthropic grants related to building decarbonization, ensuring effective budget management.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree with significant experience in building decarbonization policy; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience, particularly in government relations and state-level policy.
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills, with the ability to tailor products for diverse audiences.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing building decarbonization strategies.
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder coordination and engagement in climate initiatives.
