Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of patients in a clinical environment, assisting physicians during examinations and treatments.
  • Utilize ophthalmic terminology effectively and demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical records and imaging systems.
  • Prepare examination rooms and patients for various procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories, including medication, allergies, and family history of ocular conditions.
  • Identify and communicate any patient concerns to the Practice Manager or physician promptly.
  • Measure and document visual acuity and perform basic refraction techniques with training.
  • Administer intraocular pressure tests and evaluate pupillary responses under supervision.
  • Conduct visual field tests and provide patient education as instructed by the physician.
  • Record vital signs and assist in the application of eye treatments and dressings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination and treatment areas, ensuring all supplies are stocked and readily available.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients and assist with their needs throughout their visit.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include clerical tasks such as scheduling and filing.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient typing skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and accurately spell medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment:

This role involves moderate physical activity, including standing, bending, and lifting, within a clean office setting. There may be potential exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials during patient interactions.
