Job Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified academic ophthalmologist to join our faculty as a tenure-eligible assistant professor specializing in vitreo-retinal surgery and diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in vitreo-retinal surgery and diseases
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical and research programs in vitreo-retinal surgery and diseases
  • Participate in resident education and mentorship
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publication
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to advance the department's mission and goals
Requirements
  • MD or equivalent degree by appointment start date
  • Completion of a fellowship in surgical retina
  • Commitment to a career in academic medicine
  • Interest in combining clinical practice with resident education and/or research
  • American Board of Ophthalmology certification or board-eligibility
