Children's Health (Dallas) is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III to join our team in Plano, Texas. As a Pharmacy Technician III, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of medications in our sterile compounding and ICU pharmacy settings.
Key Responsibilities- Compounding and Packaging: Prepare and package sterile hazardous and chemotherapy preparations in accordance with USP regulations.
- Sterile Compounding and Chemo Pharmacy Technician: Work independently to compound, package, and label sterile hazardous and chemotherapy preparations, utilizing closed-system drug-transfer devices (CSTD).
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Pharmacy Technician: Prepare and deliver medications in a timely and efficient manner, utilizing pharmaceutical calculations and aseptic technique.
- Transitions of Care Pharmacy Technician: Promote patient safety through accurate medication history intake, leveraging EMR data to identify previous medication refills.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain and monitor proper documentation of compounding, cleaning, and testing, ensuring compliance with state board of pharmacy rules and USP compounding standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, 20-hour ACPE accredited IV training course, and chemotherapy certification course (required for sterile and chemo tech role).
- Licenses and Certifications: Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician, National Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (preferred), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for ICU pharmacy technicians.
