Position Summary

This role is crucial for upholding the safety and security of both clients and personnel within the Delaware Psychiatric Center (DPC). The responsibilities include identifying and mitigating environmental hazards in collaboration with maintenance teams, safety officials, and external contractors. Furthermore, this position encompasses the management of the hospital's Emergency Operations, ensuring preparedness and effective responses during emergencies. Located within the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Department, this role also involves the collection and analysis of data from various sources to support safety initiatives. A solid foundation in Healthcare Environmental Risk Management or Environmental Safety Operations will be beneficial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

The following are essential functions that are common across all roles in this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties for any single position: Develops, implements, and assesses programs related to risk management, unexpected adverse events, hazardous waste management, and the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
Analyzes incident reports to evaluate risk levels and safety management factors.
Conducts or coordinates investigations and prepares comprehensive reports detailing findings and necessary corrective actions.
Aligns safety and risk management initiatives with the Quality Assurance section to ensure adherence to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements concerning safety and risk management.
Collaborates with facility managers and supervisors to ensure the execution of corrective action plans, monitoring progress and follow-up as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements for the Safety Risk Management Officer Position

Candidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

A minimum of six months of experience in program design, implementation, and compliance monitoring for regulatory and accreditation standards. A minimum of six months of experience in descriptive statistics, including mean, median, mode, or standard deviation.

Additional Requirements for DelDOT:

At least six months of experience in clinical risk management programs within a facility.

Hiring Conditions

A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of employment. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to cover the cost of the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of employment.
