WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This role will collaborate closely with the Banking and Control Officer at City National Bank, serving as a key advisor and partner to the leadership team overseeing the Risk Framework. The responsibilities will include identifying issues, designing solutions, and implementing strategies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position is essential in ensuring that business objectives are in harmony with the bank's risk appetite and established parameters.

Key Responsibilities

+ Oversee the creation and execution of innovative programs and strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, rules, and risk management protocols.

+ Assess, analyze, and regularly review existing risk management practices throughout the organization, including at network affiliates. Work collaboratively with colleagues across various lines to enhance the control environment and improve risk management practices.

+ Evaluate data impacting technical, operational, and business functions, providing insights into the practical implications for the business line.

+ Implement critical risk program functions, such as Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Issue Management, and Operational Losses. Offer informed risk and control perspectives to senior management.

+ Foster a strong risk culture, conduct, and literacy within the first line of defense, including the design and implementation of preventive and detective controls.

+ Guide team members in conducting research, analyzing, and interpreting data to support strategic initiatives, organizational planning, and adjustments to the business model.

+ Serve as the liaison for all business line risk management, compliance activities, legal engagements, and internal or external audits.

+ Represent the Business Control Office in both internal and external meetings, establishing and nurturing strong relationships with all stakeholders. Attend meetings on behalf of senior leadership, providing feedback and escalating decisions as necessary.

+ Build and maintain effective relationships across all business lines and staff areas to ensure that opportunities are identified, analyzed, and managed effectively.

+ Collaborate with team members to create concise communication materials for senior management. Develop engaging presentations for internal and external meetings that effectively convey key messages.

+ Prioritize organizational risk management goals.

+ Lead special projects as required.

+ Facilitate audit and examination processes.

+ Cultivate and develop risk talent within the organization through coaching, mentoring, and assisting with relevant training reviews.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

+ At least 8 years of project management experience.

+ Minimum of 8 years in financial services or a related field.

Skills and Knowledge

+ An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD) is preferred.

+ 8-10 years of experience in managing complex projects.

+ Proven ability to solve complex problems and influence stakeholders at all levels.

+ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define, deconstruct, and prioritize issues effectively.

+ Knowledge of Financial Services and Project Management.

+ Demonstrated ability to drive change, build relationships, and communicate effectively under pressure.

+ Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

+ Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

+ Strong relationship management skills and the ability to handle uncertainty and simplify complexity.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for bonuses and/or commissions.
