Position Summary
The Convergent Systems Research Department comprises a diverse team of engineers, specialists, and technicians collaborating to tackle urgent issues in biomedicine. Our work encompasses all phases of design, from conceptualization and synthesis to validation and the establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
As a Senior Organic Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in several ongoing and new initiatives at EIT, focusing on the creation and design of therapeutic screening tools and the synthesis of multifunctional imaging agents. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the effectiveness of solutions tailored for the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, synthesize, and purify organic and inorganic compounds for biomedical and medicinal purposes.
- Utilize analytical tools independently to evaluate chemical and physical properties, interpreting data to enhance understanding of reactions.
- Establish a robust laboratory presence, leading by example, and serving as a laboratory expert while providing scientific guidance and technical training to team members.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses to troubleshoot and resolve experimental challenges.
- Employ existing data sets and computational tools to formulate innovative, testable hypotheses and target molecules, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Lead and/or support multiple chemistry projects concurrently, from initial stages through to clinical development.
- Review laboratory notebooks, analytical methods, deviations, protocols, reports, SOPs, and other documentation.
- Prepare presentation materials and effectively communicate research findings to management and at both internal and external meetings.
- Define and execute project plans with clearly established milestones.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new opportunities and develop creative solutions.
Required Education: MS degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
Required Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant field.
Required Expertise:
- Experience in bioconjugation chemistry and air-sensitive synthetic methods for both solid and solution-phase chemistry.
- Proficiency in selecting and applying appropriate purification techniques (e.g., flash chromatography, HPLC) and analytical tools (e.g., LCMS, NMR) to support synthetic processes.
- Experience in utilizing analytical instrumentation and methods to evaluate photophysical responses (e.g., UV-Vis, fluorimetry).
- Ability to design and conduct bioactivity and biotoxicity assessments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for synthetic reactions and laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience in writing comprehensive research reports and detailed reaction protocols.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, attention to detail, and effective data organization and presentation.
- Aptitude for managing multiple deadlines across various projects with high accuracy and efficiency.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant field.
Preferred Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Experience with optical microscopy, particularly fluorescence microscopy.
- Experience in automating data analysis processes.
