Position Summary
The Convergent Systems Research Department comprises a diverse team of engineers, specialists, and technicians who collaborate to tackle urgent issues in biomedicine. Our work encompasses all phases of project development, from conceptualization and synthesis to validation and the establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
As a Senior Organic Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in various ongoing and new initiatives at EIT, focusing on the creation and design of therapeutic screening tools as well as the synthesis of multi-functional imaging agents. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the effectiveness of solutions tailored for the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, synthesize, and purify organic and inorganic compounds for medicinal and biological applications.
- Utilize analytical tools independently to evaluate chemical and physical properties, interpreting data to deepen understanding of reactions.
- Establish a robust laboratory presence, leading from the bench, and serve as a laboratory expert, executing chemistry strategies while mentoring and training team members.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses to identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Leverage existing data sets and computational tools to formulate innovative, testable hypotheses and target molecules, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Lead and contribute to multiple chemistry projects from inception through clinical development.
- Review peer notebooks, analytical methods, protocols, reports, SOPs, and other laboratory documentation.
- Prepare presentation materials and effectively communicate research findings to management and at internal/external meetings.
- Define and implement project plans with clearly articulated milestones.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new opportunities and devise innovative solutions.
Required Education: MS degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
Required Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant field.
Required Expertise:
- Proficient in bioconjugation chemistry and air-sensitive synthetic methods for both solid and solution-phase chemistry; experienced in computational methods for molecular design.
- Skilled in selecting and applying appropriate purification techniques (e.g., flash chromatography, HPLC) and analytical tools (e.g., LCMS, NMR) to support synthetic route execution.
- Experienced in using analytical instrumentation and methods to assess photophysical responses (e.g., UV-Vis, Fluorimetry).
- Knowledgeable in designing and conducting bioactivity and biotoxicity assessments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for synthetic reactions and laboratory instrumentation.
- Proficient in writing detailed research reports and reaction procedures.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of managing multiple deadlines across various projects with high accuracy and efficiency.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant area.
Preferred Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Proficient in optical microscopy techniques, particularly fluorescence microscopy.
- Experience in automating data analysis processes.
