Position Overview:
The Patient Access Coordinator II is responsible for facilitating the smooth and organized admission process for both inpatients and outpatients. This role ensures that precise patient information is gathered and that individuals are informed about hospital policies and procedures.

About Alta Hospitals:
Alta Hospitals is a fully accredited acute care facility, equipped with 177 licensed beds, which includes 120 beds for general acute care, 15 intensive care beds, and 42 pediatric sub-acute beds. Our pediatric sub-acute unit, one of only six in California, caters to patients from across the state.

We provide care for patients up to 21 years of age who require long-term sub-acute treatment, including ventilator support and nutritional assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Register all patients in accordance with departmental protocols.
2. Accurately complete all necessary admission forms, including consent documents.
3. Verify medical record status using the Master Patient Index function before entering patient information into the system.
4. Ensure that the patient's name, chief complaint, and other essential details are recorded correctly.
5. Prepare the financial folder for patients and distribute copies to relevant departments.
6. Confirm that each account is billable and that pre-certification requirements are fulfilled as needed.
7. Communicate with physician offices to gather necessary pre-admission information.
8. Ensure that patients possess the required authorizations for scheduled procedures.
9. Explain hospital policies regarding payment for services, collect payments, and issue receipts.
10. Request and obtain copies of identification and insurance cards during the admission process.
11. Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for all patients.
12. Ensure that each patient receives an identification bracelet upon admission.
13. Operate the PBX system, answering incoming calls and transferring them to the appropriate department or patient room professionally.
14. Perform paging duties via overhead and other hospital systems as required, including announcing and reporting hospital emergency codes.
15. Ensure that physicians are authorized to admit patients and refer any physicians on the delinquency list to the hospital administrator or designee.
16. Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff while upholding confidentiality standards.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in an admitting office or as a PBX operator.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong time management abilities.
- Capability to multitask and maintain an appropriate work pace.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Demonstrated customer service skills relevant to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills to effectively communicate with patients and their families.

Compensation:
