Position Title: Staff Services Officer I

In the role of Staff Services Officer I, you will operate under the guidance of the Director of Interpretation, focusing on a variety of administrative services aimed at improving visitor experiences within Texas State Parks. This position provides essential support to multiple teams in the Interpretive Services division by delivering consultative and technical assistance in areas such as procurement, contract management, budget oversight, and human resources functions related to the Interpretive Services Program.

  • Operates with moderate supervision and limited discretion for independent decision-making.
  • Expected to adhere to all relevant Agency, Division, and Branch policies and procedures.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in administrative support roles
  • Background in procurement and customer service
  • Completion of Texas Basic Public Purchasing training is required within six months of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or Business Administration
  • Experience with State of Texas purchasing processes and staff development
  • Possession of a Certified Texas Contract Developer License
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and office management skills
  • Experience in relationship building and networking
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Standard working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • May require occasional work during holidays and weekends
  • Opportunity to telecommute two days per week with prior approval
  • May involve operating a State vehicle and occasional travel
  • Must comply with TPWD dress code and safety regulations
