About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Project Manager to join our team at the Parks and Wildlife Department. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and managing projects that support the department's mission to conserve and protect Texas' natural and cultural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and review engineering design, planning, construction, inspection, and maintenance work
  • Perform design and project management work at all stages of the project, including feasibility, scoping, planning, design, and project management
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate with consultants and contractors to execute work and review their designs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and departmental policies
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
  • 2-5 years of experience in engineering design and project management, depending on level of experience
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with rural utility systems and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) water and wastewater regulations
  • Knowledge of sustainable building principles and LEED rating system
  • Experience with project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting
Working Conditions

This position requires working from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime as needed. The position is suitable for telework two days per week and may require travel up to 25% of the time with possible overnight stays.
