We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Communications Operator to join our team at the PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for providing critical support to law enforcement and emergency management operations.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to emergency calls and dispatch units as needed
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and response
- Operate complex communication systems and equipment, including radios and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Provide critical information and support to emergency responders in the field
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communications and incidents
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in criminal justice or a related field preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience in a related field, such as law enforcement or emergency dispatch
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience working in a law enforcement or emergency management environment
- Knowledge of communication systems and equipment, including radios and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish
- Experience working in a team environment and providing support to colleagues
This is a full-time position that requires working a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
