Overview:

The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will collaborate with a team of skilled electrical engineers and designers, along with other interdisciplinary professionals including process, mechanical, and civil engineers who focus on Midstream energy (Oil & Gas) initiatives. This position is accountable for overseeing projects that generally encompass the creation of electrical and instrumentation design packages for midstream facilities, which involves the design of metering stations, pump stations, LACT skids, interconnects, switchgear, motor control centers, and standby and emergency power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the development and quality assurance of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EI&C) system designs and calculations for utility services, standby power generation, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, conduit and cable schedules, and comprehensive electrical system design (including lighting, instrumentation, PLC/RTU control and monitoring, and communications). This includes detailed design calculations and the preparation of EI&C specifications for low to medium voltage electrical systems. Manage the electrical project execution lifecycle, with guidance and review from senior electrical engineers as necessary, from initial concept development through to detailed final design and construction phases. This includes providing engineering services during construction, reviewing shop drawing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and coordinating with clients and internal project managers.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power or a related field. Professional Engineering license is required, with a preference for Power PE and the ability to obtain licensure in Texas.

Experience Needed:

A minimum of five (5) years of post-graduate experience in the conceptual and detailed design of electrical/instrumentation/control systems for oil and gas/midstream facilities. At least one (1) year of proven experience in independently managing electrical designs and representing an employer in client interactions. Experience in P&ID coordination with the piping team for the review and markup of electrical system designs. Proficiency with various software applications (Word, Excel, Project Scheduling). Familiarity with ETAP and/or SKM software is advantageous. Strong technical writing and communication abilities. A keen interest in joining a team of experienced engineers and designers who will provide mentorship and support in acquiring new project control skills and design knowledge.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in the midstream oil and gas sector. Familiarity with Transmission and Distribution (T&D). Knowledge of gas/liquid flow PLCs and control system wiring diagrams.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Capability to drive personal vehicle to various external meetings. Willingness to travel for out-of-town/state projects, potentially for multiple days. Expected travel is approximately 10-15%, primarily within or around Texas.
