Overview:

The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will collaborate with a team of highly skilled electrical engineers and interdisciplinary professionals, including process, mechanical, and civil engineers, specializing in midstream energy projects within the Oil & Gas sector. This role is accountable for overseeing projects that generally involve the creation of electrical and instrumentation design packages for midstream facilities, which encompass the design of metering stations, pump stations, LACT skids, interconnects, switchgear, motor control centers, and standby/emergency power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the development and quality assurance of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EI&C) system designs and calculations for utility services, standby power generation, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, conduit and cable schedules, and electrical system design (including lighting, instrumentation, PLC/RTU control and monitoring, and communications). This includes detailed design calculations and preparation of EI&C specifications for low to medium voltage electrical systems.
  • Manage the electrical project execution lifecycle, receiving assistance and review from senior electrical engineers as necessary, from initial concept development through to detailed final design and construction phases. This includes providing engineering services during construction, reviewing shop drawing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and coordinating with clients and internal project managers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering license is required, with a preference for Power PE and the ability to obtain licensure in Texas.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in the conceptual and detailed design of electrical/instrumentation/control systems for oil and gas/midstream facilities.
  • At least one year of documented experience in independently managing electrical designs and representing an employer in client interactions.
  • Proficiency in P&ID coordination with piping teams for review and markup of electrical system designs.
  • Familiarity with various software applications (Word, Excel, Project Scheduling) is essential.
  • Experience with ETAP and/or SKM software is advantageous.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills are crucial.
  • A keen interest in joining a team of experienced engineers and designers who will provide mentorship and support in developing new project control skills and design knowledge.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the midstream oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with Transmission and Distribution (T&D).
  • Knowledge of gas/liquid flow PLCs and control system wiring diagrams.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Willingness to drive to various external meetings.
  • Capability to travel for out-of-town/state projects, potentially for multiple days.
  • Expected travel is approximately 10-15%, primarily within Texas.
