CDW is seeking a highly skilled senior system security engineer who is passionate about cybersecurity and possesses extensive knowledge in the field.
Role Overview
In this position, you will enhance security measures by safeguarding system boundaries, fortifying computer systems and network devices against potential threats, and protecting sensitive information. Ideal candidates will have a solid background in security and systems engineering.
Knowledge of Security Tools: Familiarity with CyberArk, Cloud Lock, Proofpoint, McAfee, Trend Micro, and various scanning/penetration testing tools is essential. Experience with additional security tools is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and oversee the organization's cybersecurity infrastructure.
- Design, implement, and monitor security protocols to protect computer systems, networks, and sensitive information.
- Advise the IT team on measures to defend against breaches and cyber threats.
- Plan and execute necessary security protocols to safeguard sensitive data.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk analyses, and security evaluations.
- Lead governance and risk management initiatives, including tracking and reporting.
- Supervise security operations and guide junior security team members.
- Implement the information security strategy as directed by the Chief Information Security Officer.
- Identify and articulate system security requirements to protect sensitive organizational data.
- Design security architecture and create detailed cybersecurity frameworks.
- Document standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure components.
- Develop innovative technical solutions and new security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repetitive tasks.
- Prepare comprehensive reports that include assessment findings, outcomes, and recommendations for enhancing system security.
- Collaborate with the Risk and Information Security team, the ISS team, and other departments to promote and integrate security practices.
- Support the implementation of established policies and parameters to optimize security technologies (e.g., DLP).
- Create standard operating procedures to operationalize security functions and provide guidance to security operations, Help Desk, and other support areas.
- Establish reporting measures to evaluate the effectiveness of security technologies.
- Integrate architecture and system/network controls for both new and existing technologies.
- Assist in developing security controls to prevent, detect, or rectify risks.
- Participate in projects, providing guidance and recommendations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer.
- Proven ability to build and maintain security systems and implement security tools.
- In-depth technical knowledge of security as it relates to networking, databases, and operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering.
- Experience with network security and networking technologies, as well as system, security, and network monitoring tools.
- Thorough understanding of current security principles, techniques, and protocols, including global privacy regulations and industry-specific laws or frameworks.
- Highly skilled in assessing the security posture of network and system environments and providing corrective recommendations.
- Strong understanding of NIST, ISO, Cyber Security Framework, and other security industry standards.
- Familiarity with web technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service-Oriented Architectures) and network/web protocols.
- Experience in proposal development and leadership roles.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
- The successful candidate will respond to incidents, providing incident response support, forensic analysis, and other relevant skills as needed.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently, as part of a team, and lead security-specific initiatives.
- Experience: 8+ years in security or 10+ years in security (or IT plus security) specific roles.
- Certifications: CISSP or similar security industry certification is required.
