Position Overview

The Senior NPI Engineering Manager is tasked with overseeing a team of engineers in the development, troubleshooting, and implementation of engineering projects as directed by the Business Unit, Project Management Office, or Design Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

This role will concentrate on the production of various products at the Design Verification Stage (DVT). The manufacturing and testing processes are intricate due to the high product densities, which involve a mix of mechanical, electronic, and fluidic components, as well as the complex functionalities of the chemistries and operational processes encountered during start-up.

The initial manufacturing environment will be a controlled laboratory setting for the assembly of these units, where stringent controls are essential to maintain product and material traceability and configuration management.

The Senior NPI Engineering Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure a smooth transition of products from design to manufacturing in a systematic and organized manner.

  • Collaborate with the Design Team and Clients to fulfill build specifications.
  • Work alongside the Engineering team to design and set up the manufacturing workspace and materials storage to meet operational needs.
  • Possess a strong understanding of customer applications to deliver optimal solutions through system design.
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge across multiple disciplines (Hardware, Software, Firmware, Mechanical Engineering) and be accountable for defining, designing, and developing the overall instrument system.
Collaboration and Development

Engage closely with manufacturing, testing, and software engineers (both application and embedded) within the development team to define and enhance the hardware system design, maximizing performance and quality.

Conduct investigations and feasibility studies during the early phases of the product lifecycle.

Partner with the design team for system hardware and software integration.

Define the architecture of the instrument system in accordance with product specifications and project scopes.

Carry out design verification, component selection, and evaluation.

Establish, refine, and enhance the hardware design process.

Understand software management systems and maintain proper documentation revision control.

Experience with FPGA design tools such as Modelsim, QuestaSim, Xilinx Vivado, and Altera Quartus is essential.

Testing and Validation

Support mechanical testing for design validation and failure analysis (8D), including dimensional inspections, strength assessments, stress evaluations, and other mechanical tests to identify the root causes of failure samples.

Present capabilities and outcomes to both internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge Requirements

Ability to review plans and collaborate with research and support teams to innovate new products and processes.

Strong grasp of computers and high-level programming languages (C/C++/Python).

Drive excellence in software development, promote continuous improvement, and foster innovation in both software and hardware products.
