Job Overview

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector or CEI Level II to join our team. This role is essential in the Montgomery, AL region, where you will play a vital part in ensuring construction projects adhere to established plans and specifications.

As an inspector, your primary responsibilities will include documenting daily activities, labor, and equipment utilized by contractors, as well as maintaining clear communication regarding project progress and any relevant discussions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of ongoing work to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Evaluate the quality of completed installations to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection activities and findings.
  • Create sketches for any construction deviations and update master plans accordingly.
  • Inspect and test materials used in construction projects.
  • Interpret project specifications concerning materials and workmanship.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to travel to various job sites.
  • Adhere to Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, including safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a four-year degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction inspection or a related field.
  • Experience with ALDOT Bridge construction is mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain certification in Alabama for Concrete, Roadway Technician, Earthworks, QCI, and MUTCD.
  • ACI Certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in intermediate math and geometry for calculations.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Required to stand for extended periods, up to eight hours daily.
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to job sites.
